Parenting Within Reason Online Support Group...
(Please print these instructions and lay them beside your computer. You'll find it easier to follow them.)

PWR Online is a support group for parents, grandparents, guardians, foster parents, house parents, and others who parent children and have read the first 175 pages of Relief for Hurting Parents. Included is a private discussion forum for facilitators of parent support groups and teachers of parenting classes based on Relief.
This international online parent support group is presently without cost and personally moderated/facilitated by best-selling author Buddy Scott of buddyscott.com and his volunteers. In addition, a committee assists him in deciding what submissions should be included and how those submissions should be edited to keep them consistent with Relief for Hurting Parents and Teens Fight Adult Corruption.
This online group is not designed to assist with emergency counseling. PWR Online is designed to serve as supplemental assistance for people who have read Relief for Hurting Parents.

Format of PWR Online...

This support group is in the form of a message-board format rather than in a chat-room format. The reasons are:

  1. The process of participating in a parent support group by writing and submitting responses to a message board gives participants more time to be careful, prayerful, and contemplative when preparing submissions.
  2. The discussions stay up longer on buddyscott.com so that all registered users can have greater access to them.
  3. The moderator/facilitator and his committee are able to screen responses and edit submissions to fit within the parameters of the goals and values of buddyscott.com.

Rules, guidelines, and information for participation in PWR Online...

  1. PWR Online is specifically a Christian parent support group that seeks to honor basic Christian and biblical values. If surfers find our values offensive, understand that our specific purpose is to provide this option for people of like faith and values.
  2. Most messages must reference concepts and principles in Relief for Hurting Parents or Teens Fight Adult Corruption, when applicable. PWR Online is not trying to be all things to all people. This is a support group specifically based on Buddy Scott's self-help book for parents and self-help novel for teens.
  3. Most postings will be made within a few days. Although Buddy Scott and his committee have busy schedules, submissions will be processed as promptly as possible.
  4. Recommending other books will generally not be permitted. Our purpose is to help people learn to apply the concepts and principles in Relief for Hurting Parents and Teens Fight Adult Corruption.
  5. Publicity and advertising will generally not be permitted. This is an online support group, and hurting parents do not need to wade through advertisements to get the help they need.
  6. Links to other Internet sites will generally not be included. Inclusion will be according to the preferences of our committee. The purpose of a proposed link, content of the site, and the links offered by the site will be deciding factors.
  7. Brief submissions will generally be edited less than long submissions. If you want to have first choice at how your material will be edited, keep it tight and concise while giving a complete explaination of the situation to be discussed.
  8. Profanity and inappropriate language will not be regular fare. But please understand that this site deals with serious matters and some conversations that Christians wouldn't normally repeat may be included for presenting situations as they actually are.
  9. Hold harmless clause: Buddy Scott, Allon Publishing, and Parenting Within Reason cannot be responsible for the outcome of any and all guidance within the submissions published on buddyscott.com's Online Parenting Within Reason Support Group. Each visitor is responsible to judge input received from our Online PWR group, consider it in relation to his or her unique home situation, and check it with appropriate professionals.
  10. Adversarial responses: Confrontation will be allowed, but online group members must avoid adding insult to injury. We are a support group, not a devastation group. There is only one of us, and there are millions of you. We knew before we began that there would be disagreements, and we have already decided that we will not usually publish or respond to adversarial responses. Our purpose is to help children and those who parent them, and we will not allow our time and energy to be siphoned off into dealing with arguments.
  11. The content within the submissions to buddyscott.com and published in PWR Online become the copyrighted property of Buddy Scott and Allon Publishing and can be used in any and all of his and its ventures for helping families. If submitters want to retain ownership, that requirement must be specified with submissions in order to be sure all conditions are understood upon submission.
  12. PWR Online and buddyscott.com are not places where other authors or publishers (Internet, electronic, or otherwise) can harvest where they haven't plowed and planted. Allon Publishing has no patience with authors or publishers who slip in, harvest information from its fields, publish books, and then not truly be there for parents. Please read our copyright information at buddyscott.com and prevent putting yourselves at risk. Beware: Buddy Scott's information is so unique and well known that reading audiences catch plagiarizing and report it to Allon Publishing. If authors and publishers will just act within the integrity that we expect of our children, all will be fine.

Instructions for participation in PWR Online...

  2. To obtain a password and to establish a user name, registration is required. PWR Online participants must register with authentic information: name, home or business address, home or business phone number, and an E-mail address. Your password will be E-mailed to you, and your postal address may be validated for accuracy. As Allon Publishing is being open and authentic with its information, so must participants be open and authentic with their information. This quality-control measure is in place to prevent abuses. Preventing abuses will enable Allon Publishing to continue to offer PWR Online. Your E-mail address or personal information will not appear with your PWR Online submissions, and we will not share or sell your information to other organizations or groups.
  3. After receiving your password by E-mail, log onto PWR Online with your username and new password, then click on "Edit Profile." Enable "cookies" by checking the boxes or refuse to enable "cookies" by NOT checking the boxes.

    • For users who choose NOT to enable cookies: If you don't want to enable "cookies," you will need to click on each main topic and log in your username and password for each of them. Once you have clicked on all the main topics, then you can click on "Tree View" to view all of the subjects that are available for discussion. • And there's more for you to explore. Enjoy!
  4. When submitting, do not use font colors or sizes, special fonts, or other formatting. All submissions must be in black lettering. Your content is what is important. Colors and special effects are reserved for PWR Online administrators.
  5. Notice how PWR Online is assigning colors. Explanations and instructions are in blue, announcements are in red, Buddy Scott's personal postings are in purple, and his comments within the black print of submissions from PWR Online participants are in red.
  6. Before you submit a submission, use "Keyword Search" to be sure a submission similar to yours hasn't already been posted to a topic of discussion. If one has been posted, post only if you can add something new and valuable to the discussion.
  7. Please do not add conversation-style submissions that would normally be typed into a chat room. For example: "Thanks for praying for my son. I appreciate it. By the way, how's the weather in Boston? We were out there a couple of years ago. We went to all the tourist sites. We especially liked the churches." This submission would be edited this way: "Thanks for praying for my son. I appreciate it." Compliments, words of appreciation, words of encouragement, and etceteras are fine. Speak to needs and give support.
